From The East The excitement around Cypress Lodge has been in abundance lately, thanks to the efforts of many! I am especially pleased with the turn-out of the rummage sale & breakfast on the 27th. We raised just over $200 dollars on the sale and approximately $100 with the breakfast. We will suspend the breakfast until fall and hope to return on the last Saturday of every month starting with September with a breakfast party for yours truly and move on into the fall from there. While we’re into the money, we received another $1,000 donation from the construction company utilizing our front parking area for allowing them to park a couple of trailers. Regarding the summer Lodge schedule, remember there WILL NOT be a stated communication on the second Thursday of June, July, August or September. Instead, plan to travel with us throughout the district. We’ll car-pool from Cypress and meet at a different predetermined lodge each month. Watch the T-Board for locations and rendezvous times. On a very personal note, many of you have asked why I missed a couple of events and a meeting. My wife has fallen very ill as a result of 20 years of clinical depression. She has chosen to undergo electro convulsive therapy (ECT) at Shands in Gainesville. This situation understandably requires my complete personal attention at home with two teenage children. The treatment is expected to take as long as six more weeks. So far, I have relied upon my officers to keep up the pace. I thank you all for your efforts, understanding and prayers during this time. Regarding my shoulder, at this writing I am again scheduled for surgery on Monday, May 12th. In closing, watch the calendar for events and attend. If lack of transportation is keeping you from joining us in Lodge, call the office and leave message. You may also email me at: BJ@BJKIRBY.COM. Fraternally, WBJ Kirby Worshipful Master

From The South The summer season is rapidly approaching. Many of our northern brethren (affectionately known as “snowbirds”) have already, or are preparing to depart beautiful Naples for other areas. Our officers are preparing for the annual Grand Lodge session in Orlando. I attended the legislative sessions held at Noah lodge and will present the proposed items at our first stated communication in May. I would like to extend a very well deserved Thank you to all the Brethren and ladies who donated their new and gently used items, along with their time and efforts in making our rummage sale a success. All present at our first stated communication in April enjoyed a great presentation from the Kowiachobe animal preserve. They brought a skunk and an alligator with them and gave us an informative talk on their endeavors. Special thanks to W Dave Moran, Guy Rogers, and Bros. Allen Bowers and John Coffman of Tamiami Trail lodge in Everglades City for their assistance in procuring and preparing our alligator dinner. The Southwest Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America presented a short presentation at the May 8th stated communication. Hurricane season is rapidly approaching. Please stop by the lodge and pick up a hurricane guide. “By the Plumb” Jeff W Jeff Nowak Junior Warden |

From The West Our Snow Birds have gone and we are getting use to a bit more room on our roads, and hopefully a hurricane-free summer, Fingers Crossed. I have been busy since my last entry on the Trestle Board. First of all, Thank You to all who supported my Brother and I in a local Charity 25 mile bike ride. With the help from the brethren and the patrons of the English Pub we raised just over $2000.00 for C.A.N. (The Cancer Alliance of Naples). The following weekend I was off to the Bahamas for a short weekend cruise with my wife, Teresa. We were underway on Friday Night and arrived in Nassau on Saturday morning. When the Ship is in Dock the most outstanding sight on the skyline is a very large square and compass of the Local Lodge, I made my way there but alas there was no one at home, (next time I will try and get an Appointment). Next up will be my first trip to Grand Lodge in May. I have not had the chance to go previously but I am looking forward to it immensely. I hope you will join us but for those who don’t, I will of course fill you in upon our return. Finally, a lot of the work that happens at our Lodge is done by just a few of the brothers. You know who you are. If anyone would like to volunteer some of your time please come and speak to me and I will steer you in the right direction. Of course, an ongoing thanks to our Brother Junior Warden, Deacons and Stewards. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed! Also, special thanks to R:.W Jim Kershaw, WTom Stuart, W Bill Meurer, Brothers Miguel Prado, Khris Klock and James Calamari for their assistance with the sale and breakfast. Our Worshipful Master’s absence offered my first visit of the year to the East at the end of April and promises more opportunities for me this summer. Please be respectful of his situation and keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. See you in Lodge BrothersJ Tony Bennett Senior Warden |
